RE: Correct English
Wherever I go, it is a coke, unless I am craving a moon pie, at which time I order myself an RC coca-cola, if I can find one. There ain't nothin better than an RC coca-cola and a moon pie except for coke and peanuts.
RE: Gout
I have learned that there are some home remedies that are helpful, and I snack on dried cherries and drink cherry juice as a preventive, and when I get a flareup, I drink more juice and water. It might be a superstitious belief on my part, for all I know, but it seems to work, and it is better than sitting around being too afraid to move.
RE: Correct English
Most of us were edumacated in State schools and we all know what they're like.
I've always had a problem with spelling, so I end up doing it "Phonetically", as with this last word. teaching childred to write or speak properly is considered by many to be wrong.
Some say that You should let the child learn HIS or HER on way as with the proper way to hold a pencil. Now, with the advent of the PC and AUTO SPELLING children can do what ever they wish and it all comes out right.
You can't teach stupid, but some come by it naturally.
I wish your theory was true, but it might not be that way.
Suppose you are out weeding the tomato patch one day and a blood vessel springs a leak, damaging some of the circuitry that gives you the ability to speak coherently.
Does your inability to speak coherently affect the way you process thoughts and ideas?
Research suggests that it frequently does. The effect can be such that it is as if you had never learned it in the first place, just like those kids in the public school system.
RE: Computer / Office chair
My Sam's club chairs are killing me. I need a better one, but those Aeron's are a little bit too much for my budget. (I have to buy two, I cannot just buy one, as her majesty would feel slighted, and there would be another fox jacket in the closet).
RE: Certificate Of Appreciation From Military
I get a certificate every month signed by the treasurer, but I would like to have one of those like you got anyway. :B
RE: OJ found guilty
maybe, just maybe one of his fellow prisoners will take justice in hand. He is guilty and should be beneath the jail!!!We can all hope, as the longer he spends in jail, he more he will establish his celebrity status. Cons do have a code of ethics and abusers of children and women are not well liked in prison.
I think what cons have is more aptly called a pecking order than a code of ethics, and as you said, the Juice will not be high in the order. His celebrity will get him killed in a real prison where you can get killed just to increase the rep of some lifer.
RE: Anyone have experience with being on probation?
Works just like JohnG3 described it here in Wisconsin.
The only question I have is what is he doing there for all that time. Most visits with a PO only last long enough to tell him or her what you are up to and to produce a specimen for drug testing, now and again. Does he have programming to attend?
RE: Modern day Pirates
An Aegis Cruiser and a couple of frigates could take care of the problem and the men aboard would have a really good time doing it too. I wish I could go on that mission. :B
RE: I need help from the Grammar Police...!
I didn't know that. Good examples, so I won't forget while furthering my objectives. :B
What do you get when you fother a sail?
RE: How I Surf the Internet Advertisement-Free
Done, now I will go see how it works. :B
It does work, and it works well, I like the add on to the original program.
Thanks for the heads up.
RE: Puter
I just ordered another Dell to replace my 6 year old Sony that has grown old and tired. The new one will be my 5th Dell, and I have had only one problem with any of them, that being creeping obsolescence, and one hard drive that died.
Sony would be my only other consideration.
RE: Paint your house purple
We have a Nam vet here in Milwaukee who let his hedge grow all wild and free, so his neighbors complained. He ignored them, and then he let his grass grow. And then they sued him, and then they lost, and then he painted his house purple and puke green.
And they are living with it. :B
The guy is just a tad bit eccentric.
RE: Hou do you handle a road rage situation?
Your story sounds serious, but I can tell you a funny one that happened to me a few months back. I was on my way to work on the freeway and traffic was fairly heavy but still moving at 60 mph. I was in the center lane of the three lanes. A car pulled right up on my rear within inches from my bumper. I could see the guy in the car pounding on his steering wheel and mouthing words to me. So I slowed down a little to make sure I blocked him in behind me with a truck to my right side and a car on my left. Eventually he was able to get around the truck on the right and as he pulled up next me on the right he gave me the one finger salute and I smiled at him. That got him even more ticked off so he raced forward and swerved right in front of me cutting me off. Bad luck for him though since I'm a cop and I was in an unmarked police car. I turned on the emergency lights and even added the siren for effect and pulled him over. I approached the right side of his car and said, "I bet you had no idea what you were doing to a cop did you?" Strangely, he was nice and poolite, but I still called for a CHP unit to come by and had the guy cited for tailgating and unsafe lane change. I gave him a big break because his actions were actually reckless driving, but since his attitude improved he only got a $500 ticket instead of a $2500 misdemeanor ticket. I bet he's more careful in the future about who he does that too.
Come on Mark, I figured you as a better person than that. The guy was not speeding, he wanted to pass you but you delibertly blocked him in, making him more and more upset, basically CAUSING road rage. I know you are a cop but the type of behavior in this situation is what give cops such a bad rap. What if he was on the way to the hospital to see his recently injured wife who was taken in by ambulace? Sometimes people are in a hurry, if he wasn't speeding, you should have let him pass like a gentleman, not added to his behavior. Seem like entrapment to me.
The guy is tailgating a COP, apparently already in a rage (pounding his steering wheel, etc.) and you say just let him pass? I would fully expect the cop to stop him and give him a ticket. Maybe making him madder wasn't the thing to do, but just letting him go his own way could have meant disaster for someone else. The guy needed a lesson on what could happen. He got it.
I just love these tin foil hat threads. :B
The gentleman handed a police officer a good excuse to arrest him, and he was appropriately arrested and ticketed.
I can hear it now, "But your honor, he made me mad, and then he gave me a ticket." This is the reasoning of a preschooler, not a person to be entrusted with a drivers license.
I got news for him, only he can make him mad, allow himself to get mad, have the beliefs and values that give him permission to get mad, and do the behaviors that get him a ticket. He just picked the wrong target in his ignorance.
Pulling a gun is not always the right play either, as somebody might pull an F-250 diesel on you. :B
RE: addiction
Interesting article, and it is true for the following reasons:
People who get caught driving drunk tend not to careful planners, (i.e., they are likely to be sort of impulsive).
People who get caught with a BAC of .15 are people who......
The article doesn't say anything about people who are addicted to RVnet??
(I only skimmed it really really quick)
What is said about people who get caught being on RV internet forums for longer time periods than they initially planned to be?? :@
Edited to add: May sound tongue in cheek, but I am serious in asking my second question...
Tulirose,
Since you asked seriously, I will answer the same way.
Anything that makes you feel different than you were when you tuned in has changed the mix and quantity of neurotransmitters, (chemical messengers) in your brain. That can either be a positive thing or a negative thing, but either way, there is an effect that you noticed.
If you are spending more time here, it is likely that the time you are spending here is making you feel more connected to others, and this makes some people feel better. As you are a positive person, you will attract positive people, and this is reinforcing.
It is not, however, very addicting. The things that addict people are far more powerful than what you will get in here, and this is not the only place that you can go to for a lift in your spirits. If it was, there would not be enough going on in your life.
How is that for an answer? :B
RE: Wow, this is sad.
Anyone can come here and bare their soul, they just need to be prepared for how the rest of the world responds.
If only you could see what I am baring at you now... :B
